Speaker Biography: Al Ferrer is the President/CEO of Linea Consulting, a multi-national Major League Baseball interpreter provider. Linea also researches, analyzes, interprets and presents advanced sabermetrics. Clients have included the Los Angeles Dodgers, Angels, New York Yankees and the top sports agents in the country.

Al is currently a professor emeritus of the University of California, Santa Barbara. In his role as professor, he developed and implemented the highly successful Sport Management Program. More than 1,000 UCSB students have been placed in professional and collegiate front office positions and internships.

During his tenure, he developed a nationally ranked baseball program while leading the winningest teams in school history.  One hundred and twenty of his former players have signed professional contracts with 23 reaching the Major Leagues. The program’s four trips to the NCAA Tournament culminated with his induction into the University of California Athletic Hall of Fame.

He is active in retirement by producing a major Hollywood movie. Al and his wife, Sharon reside in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Drawing from prominent academic researchers, experienced business professionals, and successful entrepreneurs this series gives UC Santa Barbara's students as well as the community the rare opportunity to learn directly from those who have excelled through innovation and dedication to their work.
