Startup Village Brings Together Central Coast’s Hottest Emerging and Mid-Growth Startups

by Elizabeth Acebu

The Central Coast of California is increasingly recognized as a hotbed of entrepreneurial activity--in fact, Goleta and Carpinteria just got a shout-out as being higher than average in entrepreneurial quality in a recent article and infographic published in Science by MIT scientists.

Get ready to meet some of the brightest entrepreneurs at Startup Village later this month, an event that will showcase emerging companies from UC Santa Barbara’s Technology Management Program (TMP), along with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and California Lutheran University. You’ll get to mingle with talented entrepreneurs and promising mid-growth startup companies from the Central Coast, all against the backdrop of the beautiful Bacara Resort & Spa.

The event will take place on March 24 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. prior to the inaugural Central Coast Innovation Awards presented by Pacific Coast Business Times, which will recognize innovation in technology, agribusiness, energy/environmental sciences, design and bio-science.

TMP Alumni companies (some of whom are past New Venture Competition Winners too) at the event will include:  ActiveLife, Apeel Sciences, Aptitude, Fluency Lighting Technologies, Milo, Next & Salty Girl Seafood.

--The Master of Technology Management (MTM) program at UC Santa Barbara is designed to catapult engineers and scientists into leadership positions — within both startups and established companies. This 9-month, intensive program is designed to teach the frameworks, skills, and techniques you need to be a successful technology manager. No fluff, no filler.  The MTM degree will get you further, faster.
