Founder and CEO, PolarPro
A native of Newport Beach, CA, Jeff Overall is the Founder and CEO of PolarPro, the company he started in 2011 from his college house during his senior year at the University of California Santa Barbara. Since then, Overall has led a massive expansion of the PolarPro brand from a singular product into an enterprise encompassing a diverse array of products for action cameras, consumer drones and smartphones.
PolarPro was born when Overall brought a professional solution to a traditionally consumer market. As a member of the ski team, Overall was frustrated by the poor footage he was capturing from his GoPro camera. The seemingly-ubiquitous action cameras were becoming more common on the slopes, but its technology met its limitations shooting on California’s sun-washed snow. After some duct tape prototyping, PolarPro was soon taking orders from its patented snap-on lens filters from teammates and other ski fanatics.
While he continues to make time to get out and explore the world, Overall has continued to drive PolarPro’s explosive growth to include a diverse product catalogue for urban and off-grid adventurers alike. The PolarPro team, made up of action sports enthusiasts and cinematographers, now includes 14 employees at its Costa Mesa, CA headquarters, and its products are distributed to major consumer electronics retailers in 57 countries throughout the world.
In November 2015, Overall appeared on ABC’s popular Shark Tank series where he was able to parlay a bidding war amongst the show’s celebrity investors into a million dollar on-air deal with Sharks Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec. He has been profiled in industry-leading business publications such as Forbes and Business Insider; and under his leadership PolarPro has been honored by the Orange Country Business Journal with a 2016 Innovators of the Year Award.
