Who Do We Admit?

The Master of Technology Management (MTM) at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) is a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) degree program that teaches you to become a tech leader. A tech leader is one who builds and manages technical teams, develops and launches new products, and starts and runs new companies.

Factors we consider important for admission include the following:

  • Your interest in pursuing a career in the tech industry
  • Your undergraduate degree
  • Your grade point average (GPA)
  • Your testing scores (GRE and/or GMAT)
  • Your academic and extracurricular pursuits

In some cases, we might also interview you before admission.

Drive and Distinction

Do you have a distinguished track record of leadership and initiative in your academic and extracurricular endeavors? Then, we want YOU!

When Should You Apply?

Once the UCSB Graduate Division's online portal opens in September 2017, you may apply at any time. We give equal consideration to all applications regardless of when they're submitted. Should you need a visa and/or financial assistance to attend our program, however, we recommend that you apply as early as possible.

We review applications for admission in rounds. You should submit all of your application materials (including transcripts, official test scores, and letter of recommendations) as soon as possible before the round deadline.

Should you submit an incomplete application for rounds 1 and 2, we'll automatically defer your application to the subsequent round. We won't accept incomplete applications for the 3rd and final round. Any incomplete applications received for that round will be automatically rejected.

The admissions committee typically takes 4 to 6 weeks to review your application. Should you receive an offer of admission, you'll have 4 weeks to respond.
