Professor Nelson Phillips won the Academy of Management (AOM)’s Rigor and Relevance Award in the Division of Organization Development and Change during AOM’s 2026 conference in Philadelphia.
AOM’s Rigor and Relevance Award recognizes high-impact scholarship and related scholarly activities, such as teaching and consulting on change, in both academia and management practice.
The Academy of Management is the leading professional association for management and organization scholars. With over 21,000 members across 120 countries, the organization’s community includes professors, doctoral students, and practitioners advancing knowledge and its real-world impact. The Organization Development and Change Division (ODC) is devoted to research and development theory on all forms of organization change.
Dr. Phillips, the Christian A. Felipe Distinguished Professor of Technology Management, has research interests that cut across organization theory, innovation, and technology, and he has published widely for both academics and practitioners including papers in AMJ, AMR, Annals, Organization Science, Harvard Business Review and the Sloan Management Review. He is currently the Co-Editor of Innovation: Management and Organization, sits on the board of governors of the Academy of Management, and is on the advisory board of the Society for the Advancement of Management Studies. Phillips is also Research Fellow at Cambridge Centre for Social Innovation at Cambridge Judge Business School.
