Anne has extensive Leadership, Business and Geoscience expertise gained during her 29 year career with BP where she rose to Vice President Geoscience after holding various technical, business and leadership roles in Alaska, Russia, London, and Texas.

During her career in oil and gas she led and supervised large professional teams of scientists and engineers exploring and developing BP’s major oil fields across the world. She held a group level leadership role working with members of the executive leadership team and was Functional Head for the Geoscientists and Technical Advisors globally. Anne has lived and worked around the world learning about different cultures and their needs for talent development, including working in Moscow as the Technical Director in charge of BP’s reserves and production for the TNK-BP joint venture. Anne also played a key role in transforming BP’s Learning and Development Subsurface program for new hires (PhD and MSc graduates) and developing the next generation of scientists and technologists in the company. Anne is deeply familiar with strategy, performance management, leading major projects ($100MM+), exploring for oil and gas, joint ventures, technology development, organizational behavior and creating high performing teams.

The demands of an executive career, frequent travel and a global portfolio combined with being a new mom and wanting to be with my family in California challenged me to make a big life change, retire from BP and reset my priorities.

Anne enjoys teaching in the Technology Management Department at UCSB sharing her leadership, business acumen and technical expertise to help the next generation develop their capabilities to impact the environment and create opportunities for innovation and technology. Anne is active in the local wine-making community and recently completed the Winemaking Certificate Program at UC Davis. She is an avid outdoor enthusiast and loves spending time with her husband and son hiking, bicycling, running, skiing and training her Golden Retriever to be a therapy dog.
