NVC Alum Invents Longer Lasting Edible Spray

James Rogers is the founder of APEEL Sciences, a Santa Barbara-based company that provides a proprietary solution created from natural plant extracts to treat fruits and vegetables, increasing the shelf life of produce and reducing the energy costs of cold storage.

The company spun out of UC Santa Barbara's Technology Management Program and was the grand prize winner of the 2012 Annual New Venture Competition.

APEEL Sciences has invented edible coatings that can extend a fruit or vegetable's shelf life by as much as five times and was recently featured in Business Insider's Tech Insider article.
