UC Santa Barbara and the Central California Coast are remarkably fertile grounds for innovation and the creation of new enterprises. Through the Technology Management Program, students receive a unique business education that is complemented with a number of co-curricular programs and activities in entrepreneurship that go beyond the classroom.
TMP’s flagship entrepreneurial program is the annual New Venture Competition, where students learn ideation, team formation, business model development, market validation, and the art of presentation. The NVC, and other experiential activities offered by TMP, are strategically designed to enhance the student's academic experience, and focus on preparing them for successful careers as business leaders and entrepreneurs.
The entrepreneurial spirit is also shown in other ways in TMP through its deep network of alumni, practicing professionals, retired executives, and experienced entrepreneurs. TMP’s affiliated businesses and sponsors provide the guidance, mentorship, and opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs through the New Venture Competition and other related activities.
Introducing the Wilcox New Venture Incubator, aka "the Garage"

It was funded in part by Assembly Bill 2664, University of California: Innovation and Entrepreneurial Expansion.
