Your learning experiences in TMP

What are some of your influential learning experiences going through TMP? Any challenging but rewarding TMP courses?

My favorite TMP class was TMP 149 Market Validation. I met incredible instructors who have deep understandings of how to form and grow startups. I learned how to efficiently and effectively validate my business ideas and work to turn them into a reality. I continue to use these skills and know that I will bring these skills with me after I graduate.

Did you have any key mentors or people who deeply influenced you while you were in TMP?

Two key people who deeply influenced me were instructors Steve Zahm and Jason Spievak. One of my favorite quotes from them is “There is no substitute for caring."

Your advice to students/parents about UCSB’s TMP

What advice would you give to students about UCSB’s Technology Management certificate program?

I would advise students to take all the classes that seem interesting to them and to learn with open minds. Avoid being too proud and pretending that you know the answers. There are many excellent ways to approach the same problem.

Your Goals after UCSB and TMP

What has been your biggest accomplishment so far at UCSB and TMP?

My biggest accomplishment in TMP is advancing to the 2016 New Venture Competition Finals and continuing the project even after the finals. My biggest accomplishment at UCSB is learning to push myself beyond what I even imagined possible as a freshman. Awards and accolades for my work are just good reminders of the possibility of success in the dark and quiet moments.
