Technology Management Designated Department within College of Engineering

After more than 20 years under the auspices of UC Santa Barbara's College of Engineering (COE), Technology Management has officially earned the name and status of a Department — one of six in the College of Engineering. Technology Management was originally born out of the COE as a mentorship program to support innovative and entrepreneurial students. Today, TM is dedicated to multidisciplinary research and education informed by the engineering, information, and social sciences. The new designation as Department is a milestone for both Technology Management and the College of Engineering. Said Kyle Lewis, Christian A. Felipe Chair in Technology Management, "Technology Management’s graduate and undergraduate certificate programs, doctoral degree program, and Masters in Technology Management degree, coupled with the phenomenal job success of our students, have fueled our growth and reputation as a top teaching and research department in the interdisciplinary field of Technology Management. We are thankful to our students, and the pioneering efforts of Professors Dave Seibold, Bob York, Gary Hansen, and John Bowers, whose vision enabled our success today."
