Want to Be a Technology Leader? Surf Over to a New Kind of Management Program

Classes started last week at the UC Santa Barbara Master of Technology Management (MTM) Program and we are off to a great start.  I wanted to share some recent news about the School of Engineering, UCSB and our brand new MTM graduate program--the business program designed just for engineers.

If you’ve ever thought of working at a Silicon Valley company, check this out: Business Insider recently ranked UCSB in the top 10 universities most likely to land you a job in Silicon Valley.  UCSB’s College of Engineering, home to the MTM program, has been selected as one of the top 20 Engineering programs in the world--ahead of Princeton, Caltech, Harvard and USC.   The ranking includes factors such as the number of Nobel Prize winners and Fields Medal winners, as well as the number of articles published in high impact journals like Nature and Science and the number of highly-cited researchers in the Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers list.

UCSB is also included among the top 50 schools graduating VC-backed entrepreneurs and innovators.  The MTM program at UCSB uniquely prepares graduates for leadership roles at companies and entrepreneurial ventures because our curriculum is completely focused on technology management--not just a few extra courses tacked onto an MBA.  It’s a new kind of business and management program for a new kind of leader--the engineer leader.

Overall, UCSB and Santa Barbara are incredible places to be in technology and engineering management.  We’ve got small startups and big companies like Lynda.com and Citrix and everything in between.  There are mountains, beaches...and the weather is sublime, with sunshine 300 days out of the year.  In fact, we're known as the American Riviera.

If you don’t believe me, check out the 25 Reasons Santa Barbara is the Best City in the U.S. article, which includes everything from our beloved McConnell’s Ice Cream and Habit Hamburgers to the breathtaking natural beauty of Santa Barbara’s many beaches and the nearby mountains.  P.S.  UCSB is number 15 on the list!
