MTM Executive Director Erin Nerstad sat down with Benedetta and Francesco to hear more about why they joined MTM – both after previously studying at Politecnico di Milano in Italy.
Erin: So Benedetta and Francesco, tell us about what you were doing before you joined the MTM program, and why did you choose MTM?
Victoria studied computer engineering at UCSB before completing her MTM degree in 2020. She is currently a Senior Engineering Project Manager at Arthrex, a global medical device company and leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics.

Q: What is your background?
Our department had the recent pleasure of sitting down and chatting with Chuck Sheldon. He and his wife Missy have been donating to UCSB and our New Venture Program for years. Q: What were you doing before you began the MTM program?
Q: What initially attracted you to the MTM program?
Q: What made you want to enroll in the MTM program?
A: I was an active-duty Air Force officer working at Los Angeles Air Force base and was selected to be a part of the Advanced Academic Degree Program. It is offered through the Air Force Institute of Technology. Only a few people in the Air Force are selected from my career field every year to take advantage of this amazing opportunity.
I was so honored and humbled to have been asked to do this degree.
Dan Hedden received his B.S. in Environmental Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and completed the MTM program in 2021. He is currently a Partner at Santa Barbara Venture Partners.
