Strategic Management Society Elects Professor Renee Rottner into Leadership Role for 2 Years

Professor Renee Rotter has been elected to a leadership role in the Strategic Management Society's Knowledge and Innovation Interest Group, the leading academic association for business strategy researchers.  As Representative at Large, Renee will serve for two years to help the IG put together the scholarly and award program for the annual SMS International Conference.

SMS was founded in 1981 to promote and encourage superior research and practice in the field of strategic management. Its flagship publication, the Strategic Management Journal, is considered the top outlet for business strategy research.  Serving 3,000 members in 80 countries, the society is comprised of 12 interest groups, each of which focuses on a major stream of practice and research. The Knowledge & Innovation IG is currently the largest by papers submitted and the second largest IG by registered members.

Other members of the committee include faculty at ETH (Zurich), Bocconi (Milan), LSE (London), ICL (London), IESE (Barcelona), and Washington (Seattle).

Earlier this year, Renee also accepted a role in the Academy of Management's Business Policy and Strategy Division. Now in it's 76th year, the Academy of Management meeting is attended by over 12,000 management scholars drawn from 100 countries. As a member of the Research Committee, Renee is involved in selecting outstanding strategy papers submitted to the annual conference.

Renee has previously won best paper awards from both societies. In 2009, she won the Best Conference PhD Paper Award, Strategic Management Society.  Within the Academy of Management, Renee was the recipient of the best paper award from the Organization & Management Theory Division (2015), the History Division (2014), and the Newman Award for Academy-Wide Best Dissertation Paper (2012).
