Master of Technology Management Program
Image
I entered the MTM program straight out of undergrad with no previous career experience. In MTM you’re given the right tools to be able to go into any scenario and have a process for how to think through problems, communicate with leadership, and have those executive communication skills and basic business acumen, in order for you to be a decision maker and really have a seat at the table. I needed that confidence boost to be able to feel secure in my ability to make decisions and make them quickly.

I learned frameworks that explore opportunities in technological innovation and gained skill required to lead products and people, which helped me advance my career in product management.

By completing the MTM program, I was able to springboard into an advanced position well ahead of my peers and significantly increase my salary.

I am currently at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where I work as a Technical Business Developer within the Worldwide Specialist Organization. In this role, I build and execute go-to-market plans across a few AWS compute offerings, work closely with our service teams, and accelerate the adoption of those existing offerings within North America. I collaborate with a broad group across AWS, acting as the conduit between our customers and AWS product teams. Most importantly, I apply my expertise to address our customers’ most critical problems, helping turn innovative ideas into technical reality. Without going through MTM, I would not have the strong foundation that I need to allow me to excel in this role.
Undergraduate Certificate Program

The experience I gained through the TMP program and NVC was essential to getting my first job offer. Not only did I discover job opportunities through the connections I made in the TMP program, but having the certificate was also a critical talking point during my interviews.

I felt like I qualified for a lot of jobs because of the TMP program. To put my experience in perspective my major at UCSB was Sociology. My first job was in marketing and my current job is in Private Equity. TMP allowed me to be more than my major and be able to work in two very different fields. Opening doors for jobs I wouldn’t be qualified for with my major alone.
Ph.D. Program
Image
There aren't many places as a doctoral student where you can get feedback from people who study everything from micro-level team processes to large-scale institutional change, but who all anchor their work in understanding the role of technology.
Image
The PhD program guides you to not take technological innovation at face value and think deeply about how technologies shape work and how organizational factors shape technologies. I've been fortunate to find mentors in faculty and peers, who've sharpened my ideas and observations into concrete research questions. The program pushes you towards building your independent identity as a researcher, and being supportive of your interests and ambitions.
New Venture Program

I consider the New Venture Program the most important part of my education at UCSB.

The New Venture Program was invaluable in my professional growth, and I am deeply grateful for the impact it had on me.
