New MTM application fee waiver for UCSB Alumni

Technology Management is pleased to announce that UCSB alumni are now able to apply for the Master of Technology Management (MTM) graduate degree program for free! Applicants who have received a degree from UCSB or who will complete their degree by Fall 2025 are eligible to apply for an application fee waiver–a $135 value for U.S. citizens and permanent residents and a $155 value for international applicants.

Redefining Management and Organization Through a Symbolic Lens

It might seem strange to study the symbolic outside of the humanities, like anthropology or linguistics. However, if we consider symbolism to be biological, it makes sense that a foundational part of what makes us human also contributes to how we bond and work. According to research from our own Nelson Phillips (Professor, Technology Management at UCSB) and his co-author Christine Moser (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), looking at symbolism as a cornerstone of human evolution broadens our understanding of how we communicate, produce and store knowledge, solve problems, and more. Looking at the symbolic origin of humanity can help us better understand management and organization on an intrinsic level—like understanding DNA is essential to modern-day science.

Meet Killian McGinley, MTM Class of 2024

Killian arrived to UCSB from London, England, after completing his bachelor’s degree in Economics. When asked about why he wanted to join MTM, he stated, "I wanted to join MTM because it’s UCSB’s graduate business degree. That was what originally attracted me to MTM. When I started doing some more digging, I thought Technology Management would be a really relevant skill set to add to my resume and professional development."
